Default EG HATCH guage cluster question

I searched thru honda-tech and read the posts but they don't really answer my question so here goes:

Have a cx eg hatch.... bought it wit a broken speedo needle..... so i switch out new speed sensor... nothing

figure it may be the guage cluster itself (already had an ex cluster wit tach).... buy a new one...... take out cluster and notice there are only 3 harness clips for the back of the cluster.... 2 greys (sides) and a yellow one.... missing a green one?

does the cx come with the green one? and is that the reason my speedo aint working? tach works. the other posts i read said that the green plug was for cruise control? i was confused

so the question is....

do i need to rewire myself a green clip? or do i jus splice some wires into the yellow clip's pins?

help a brotha out

i don't think the cx's and dx's came with a green plug. you only need the other 3 plugs connected.

nope, its not for an auto, my vx and ex cluster both have them, both manuals. im thinking its something to do w/ the tach. cx clusters dont have them that im aware of, as well as dx clusters, which indicates tach to me??? i could be wrong though.

I was wrong. I just checked my old one (no tach/ from manual) and it has it
But I don't think it's tach either for that exact reason...

But if i remember right my dx has the green plug (not sure. It's been a while since I've taken it off)

so i read on a little bit at another site and found out the green is for cruise control.... and the 2nd wire on the left clip (yellow/blue) is the speedo wire.... can anyone tell me how to remove the wire? should I? the reason i ask is just to see if it was connected right..... I'd really hate to have to follow the line to see if it was cut somewhere... guess that might be my only solution..... anyone else ever encounter this problem putting in the ex cluster into a lower model ?

i just put one in my vx w/out a problem, and it didnt have cruise, but where the cruise light is on the ex cluster is where the shift indicator light is on my vx cluster. i dont have it all back together yet, i can plug them all in except the green one and see what doesnt work, but it will be later today.

Ya its just a plug and play.... Just connect all the wire in the back to there harnesses and your good to go. Now thats if the cluster you put in is working properly.

When i bought my car the speedo was not working right and after I changed the cluster it worked great
Not likely that you have 2 bad clusters but possible...

replace the speedo sensor in your tranny. or at least pull it out and make sure that it looks ok. Larry

Ok, so i got the needle moving..... I was jus ****** around under the hood.... found out that it aint the cluster or speedo (bought new ones for no reason haha) but i think it might be a shorted wire? now the needle goes nuts and sometimes doesn't work at all.....

I was driving it and it looked like the needle was super spiking, it would shoot up to 130 back and forth.... sometimes it would b at the right speed but it would go haywire shortly thereafter. Anyway i could jus rewire the speed wire? i don't want to have to buy a whole new harness just for the speedo. Or my buddy said something about air to tranny or something like that may be causing it to malfunction.

needle is moving but not correctly.

HELP

well the speedo works just fine now.... not sure on how i got it to work. My only guesses are that .....

the wire was shorted somewhere and when i took out my dash to install power windows, the wire was pulled or moved in a way to make it work....

or the previous seller didn't put tranny fluid in because i just switched out the clutch and put in tranny fluid, wen i did that my stuff.... the speed sensor started working, my shifts are a lot lot lot smoother and i'm leaking oil. He was bragging about how the frankenstein wasn't leaking oil.

I'm not really sure on how the speedo started working but those are my guesses. Good luck to anyone else with the same issue

You actually only need the 2 grey plugs connected. The yellow plug is for the SRS light on your cluster. I have a EDM cluster for my EG and it only has the 2 grey plugs.
