AC issues 97 ex
Hey I checked the forums for a related thread but I haven't noticed one. My AC has been leaking freon. I know this. I drive a 97 ex. My AC has been dieing and I'll throw in another charge of coolant and it works for maybe 2 months or less fine. I was wondering if there is a common issue with the 5th gen for leaking freon. Also my car's AC tends to get a foul, soured odor when it tends to start to lose its coolant. Any idea what might be causing either issue?
leaks are common for all cars that are old to have A/C leaks. Take it to the dealer or an a/c specialty shop and have it repaired if the car is in otherwise good shape. I have a 94 that needs to be recharged every 4 years or so
the only way to locate an a/c leak small leak is to install dye into the system, and have a ultra violet lite chk to see where dye will come out of,,
Big leak you can hear it hissing while you put freon in,,
leaks could be anywhere, compressor frt seal, a hose, evap case . etc etc.
As it was adviced by YEU , take it to a shop ..unless you have all the equipments to do the job yourself
