Default horsepower estimate?

hey i have a b18b1 in my coupe and i took out the power steering and air conditioning. it has a cold air intake, dc 4-2-1 header and the exhaust is 2.25 straight pipe. the stock numbers are 140 hp and 130 ft lbs. does anyone have an estimate of what its putting out now?

What year coupe? Because you know if you have a 93 coupe youll get more hp out of it then a 95, but 96 is better then 94 and 99 is cooler so the engine would be too to give you a better non vtec boost. but you cant forget about 97 which is better then 00 but slower then 89. Hope i didnt loose you in all that.

you lose 20-30% of the claimed HP through the drive train. So if we assume -30% you put down 98whp stock. With the power steering removed and the A/C gone you probably gain another 6-7whp (generous). Puts you at 105whp. Take into account your mods, which all together probably only gain you around 11-12hp.. that puts you at right about 117whp.

Which means I would spank you in my whip.

I think those #'s are taken at the wheels...

I could be wrong though, but in the case that they are, you don't subtract for drivetain loss, not to mention it's not that big, you don'td put out approx 140 at the flywheel and 98 at the wheels....I mean ****, my friend's protege throws 95 at the wheels and it's slow as expletive...

at the original poster:
The reason why so many pple hate these threads is because A. It really depends on ur car, every car reacts differently to different setups, but even if you generalize the horsepower numbers, you'll never actually know until you run on a dyno... You can't just take 140 either, you have to take into effect age of the car and mileage which usually lower the stock #'s..

So you have the basic I/H/E, I would say that'll give you 15hp~ max on that setup (stock), and the ps won't save u much believe it or not, like 6 TOPS, same with the AC compressor...but that's even less, maybe like 2, the AC compressor doesn't save u a lot because it works off a clutch system and hwen u don't actually have hte AC button pressed (compressor isn't on) the clutch is engaged on the compressor and the belt spisn more freely, so it's not until you turn it on that you lose the hp -- my ps and ac numbers could be off, but it's general ball park--

man next time dont forget to zip up your flame suit.... they got you bad. but ok lets try to get this... 140 yah... loose 20 threw the crank and blah blah... get 15 for your stuff an there you go so basicly you 130-140 thats my guess... I got a dyno at my buddies school and i was 121whp (you see mods on sig)... but i got ac and powersteering.... but dont you only loose hp when thats stuff is working like IF your turning or IF its on?

PS you should boost the ls buds... or get a vtec head for all motor...

140hp and 130tq are flywheel numbers. So I'm guessing about 120whp w/ your mods. The biggest factor is how well maintained your motor is and what condition it's in. I doubt that it's tuned. The only way for sure is to take it to a dyno. I raced a car with a similar setup as yours a while back and pulled like there was no tomorrow. Keep in mind that I only dynoed at 186whp and 142tq.
