Default synthetic vs. non-synthetic

i have heard all kinds of rumors about synthetic and non-synthetic motor oil. which one is better for a honda. i was told synthetic is bad for the v-tec solenoid???

Its not bad for the silinoid but i personally use Castrol GTX 10w30.

The whole thing behind synthetic and non synthetic is the way the oil breaks down under heat. The over simplified answer is .....synthetic doesn't break down as easily as non synthetic thereby retaining its lubricating properties longer......BUT I change my oil at most every 2000 miles if not sooner. So why pay the extra 15 bux or whatever for 5 quarts.

A couple of months ago, I tried something while working on my brother's car. When installing bolts that were hard to thread (due to not being perfectly lined up), I dipped some in synthetic oil and some into conventional oil. And the results were not the least bit subtle: the bolts coated with synth went in MUCH more easily. Now I have always known that synthetic oil is better. But this little experiment was a real eye opener. I guess this is just one more reason why I will NEVER use conventional oil in an engine EVER again.
