ok guys, we went over a pretty bad pothole on the road and the radio just shut off, the dash lights are still on and everything but when we came to the parking spot the tranny would not go into reverse, only into drive/sport drive and the lower gears, my guess is that it went into that safety/security mechanism, could someone please tell me how to get this thing back to normal i really need the car for tonight! TIA

Sorry I don't know the answer, but I felt bad that no one's responding. Sounds like this doesn't happen too often. Maybe you can try disconnecting/reconnecting battery?

Never heard of the car going into a "safety mode" and if it did im sure you'd be throwing a CEL or something. Though this sounds more specifically to be a tranny problem...can you get under the car to see the damage?

 

i tried disconnecting the ECU fuse from the fuse box in the engine bay, that didnt work

and i wanted to disonnect the battery but the gf doesnt have any tools
