Default Bypassing passenger side airbag

Okay. Befoe the fun starts, let's get it over with: My daughter wants to enjoy the full ITR experience from the front seat, not the back. I don't drive her around often and want to be able to do the car seat thing upfront for those few times...

With all that said, can I bypass the passenger side airbag with a switch? I'd like to be able to select this functionality as my wife needs / deserves the airbag. (No comments here...) I've seen Miatas with this sort of configuration as well as some pickup trucks. I think this is Fed mandated on vehicles with no back seat.

Any help?

you can unplug the bag from the bottom (behind the glove box)... but the light (in the dash) will lite up.

If he does that, the driver's side will not work either. It'll shut down the entire SRS system.

The system will remain shut down until he brings the car into the dealer and has it cleared on the PGM Tester.

Yep But, one question Mike... Is it true that there is a small device/jumper that can be built/obtained, that can be plugged into the connector in place of the airbag, that will simulate the airbag? I have read some things in the shop manual that lead me to believe this. If this is true, he could disconnect the passenger bag, install the device, and then reset the SRS system and it should allow the Driver side to work properly... correct?

Air bags pose virtually no threat to a PROPERLY RESTRAINED passenger in the front seat. Nearly ALL child/airbag fatalities involved unrestrained, or improperly restrained children.

By moving the passenger seat to the rear-most position, and using an approved forward facing child safety seat or booster suited for your child's stature, and by using the Integra's passenger side belt lock (fully extend the shoulder belt and it locks as it spools back in - and stays locked) your child will be strapped in tight and out of the airbag's deployment path.

NHTSA has adopted "Put the child in the back seat" because it is simple for all to understand. Most motorists are too ignorant or too busy to follow the multiple steps necessary to properly restrain their riders. Yes, riders are safer in the back due to other crash related factors, but the air bag risk to PROPERLY RESTRAINED passengers has been blown way out of proportion by the media.
