EP3 Head Swap
Interested in doing a head swap from my 04 si and putting in a rsx type s head before I turbo it. Couple buddies of mine have no clue if this would work, how vtec would figure, wondering if I would have true vtec then instead of the whole valve opening thing I got going on now, and what would need to be done to get true vtec in and all the vitale things that would have to be done. Dont know of anyone that has done this head swap but any ideas or help would be awesome...also if anyone knows where i can get ahold of a nice type s head that would be awesome to.
Tuner Transformation did a vtec head swap on a honda element. i dont see why you cant.
get everything from the top end. but your going to have to figure out what kind of timing belt to use.

Its been done many times, although most will say its not totally worth it since the a3 bottom end cant really handle the extra revs(but these days people seem to be pushing that rev limit), and the a3 tranny really isn't geared as well to make the most use of the powerband being higher up as well. When it comes down to it its almost more worthwhile to spend a little more and just pick up a k20a2 or k24a2 longblock.
To do the headswap you will need the complete head of course, rsx-s ecu and/or hondata, new gaskets, headbolts, rsx-s/310cc injectors.
Thats it as far as I know, but of course there are optional parts that could help. Such as an external oil cooler to help with those higher revs since the a3 is short a few oil squirters.
You might want to consider just running the a2 cams instead. I am kind of contemplting this setup sometimes. Power gains will just about be the same, It'll be cheaper if you could find the parts to swap these cams in secondhand or you can always just buy a complete head and take the parts you need as well. More on how to do this here. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1553082
