Default Simple motor build: 210whp/134tq

With all the recent posts regarding wild builds, 2.0L's, Kseries...etc, I figured I would post up what a good combination of parts can do to a healthy ITR motor.

Cool beans Marshal. Is this to show the viewers that performance can be had for minimal money and effort?

This is by no means a budget build, the header alone is $1200, but then again, you get what you pay for in this situation.

When all said and done, the customer probably spent under $2,500, with minimal install effort, cams and boltons.

DynoJet 248C

SAE numbers are 207/130

I wouldn't say budget build. But this shows to get good hp, a relatively small amount of money is required to get there, where as most of us go all out and spend three to four times that amount.

Who's Type-R is this?

I'd also like to add that how well your tune is, is relative to how well those simple add-ons are going to work for the motor. That dyno plot shows that a good tune means darn near everything.

Holy ****; a DTR header, RM cams and Crome. That's it? Jeebus, that's good.

Makes me wonder what the hell I've been doing

What injectors, fuel pump, intake, and do you think it hurts him having the 2.0L header instead of a 1.8?

Nice numbers

Yes, RM cams rock. Now everyone going to Expo needs to order a set.

Honestly seems like one of those freak motors though. Most other bolton+cam+tune combos with excellent quality parts (not including vavlesprings and retainers) would usually yield around 195 tops? These cams actually net over 10 more?

Updated the all-motor thread, but to answer the questions;

Intake - Password JDM CF intake (J's copy)
Motor - JDM ITR
Injectors - Don't know, enough to tune AFR's properly
Fuel pump - Stock

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by tommymoose &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Honestly seems like one of those freak motors though. There are two types of motors, healthy and unhealthy. If a motor was broken in improperly, has low compression or leakdown out of spec, it will not make its potential power output. I think the main reason you don't see many 200whp USDM ITR's with boltons is most ITR's were broken in using the 'babying' method. I know there are a few USDM ITR motors making mid 190's on stock ITR cams, George Knighton's old motor is an example.

IMHO this build is completely reproducable. The M22X is a very good cam for compression between 10.5 and 11.5:1. The DTR header is a very good piece, with the same design header we dyno'd 13whp more peak, with a fat powerband over a DC JDM 4-1 on a JDM GSR motor, we would expect to see even more gains if a 1.8L header of DTR's new design was used.

Well I hadn't looked into the RM cams simply because they were relatively new when compared to other b-series cams. However, this is the type of stuff that brings a cam up to proven status in my mind

So if you dont use a header of the same design, your saying the peak numbers will be about 10-13whp less? So with cai, dc header, RM cams, tuned, it would make around 197 whp?
