i know few people that have run that ...some have had problems..but i couldn't comment on that since i don't know the nature of the problems..

raceworks prelude in SWC has a 2.3 bottom with 2.2 head .. and with special cams and some engine work they were able to get to 220WHP +

that's a lot of HP ( 260-270 ?? )

be aware that rod stroke ratio will be less than the H22 alone..so u won't be able to make a revver with that that's 100%..it just won't hold up
( i've never seen any 2.3 going really wild on revving.. )

and if you want to make power with that ( staying NA that is ) you will need to raise CR .. up to 11.5:1 and more ..

and get a good exhaust/header

yes. oil squirters under the pistons that spray an oil mist onto the bottom of the piston to keep it cooler. The H22 has them, pretty sure the H23 does not

nope, the h23a block does not have the oil supply nozzles for vtec. Thats one downfall of the whole frankenstein deal. a friend of minde did the h22/h23 and ended up with nothing but problems and ended up selling the head after it dropped a valve and eventually going back to a h23a motor. i dont recommend doing this hybrid, unless you have someone EXPERIENCED do this for you.

The H23 block does have provisions for the squirters though, since the blocks are from the same mold. It is possible to use the passages with an H22/23, they just have to be drilled/tapped. For me it's one idea i've been looking into for quite some time, stroking an H22. Another way to achieve the same hybrid would be to transfer a complete 2.3 rotating assembly (rods, pistons, crank) into an H22 block. It is possible since main bearing clearances are practically the same. The only difference being main bearing #1 on the H22 (0.021-0.045mm), and #1 on the H23 (0.013-0.037mm). In my opinion it's an awesome idea for a drag powerplant, but as for a "daily" driver,........I wouldn't trust it to hold up very long.
