blew my y7 boosting 14psi
well i been boosting 14psi on a t25 for about a week now good afrs .25 deg timing per lb of boost well i went to the muffler shop got 3 inch pipe all the way back and i left the shop my can screamed let loose in third gear when i shifted i got about a block away and i stepped on it again in second and boom i heard it white smoke i coast to the parking lot and the rod in #2 in knocked 2 holes in the front of the block and is sticking out of the oil pan. well too much hp for the stock bottom end i was planning on suzuki vitaras and eagle rods i have the pistons already i was saving for rods so my question is i am looking to buy a jdm d15b will the vitaras fit in it they are std size. and eagle rods for a y7 should fit too..? also i bought a exedy stg 3 clutch hasnt came in yet will it fit too i plan on using my y7 tranny thaks alot i appreciate the help.. ill try to post pictures when i tow it home haha
I believe you're going to need a piston with a 27 mm or so compression height for the d15b. According to this http://www.zealautowerks.com/dseries.html
vitaras have a 28mm compression height...
you're working with 207mm for deck height, 84.5 mm stroke and 137 mm rods.
84.5/2 = 42.25+137+28=207.25
a 1/4 of a mm or .010" out of the hole...i dont know but i believe you're going to need something similar to the d15z1 pistons (27.75mm compression height)

well i already have the vitaras i was hoping to use them and i found cheap d15b long blocks at hmotorsonline.com .. should i just sell them and get some srp pistons.. somone give me some more feedback.. or get a whole nother engine

i didnt really care about the y7 once i found a block to build i was gonna take it to the track and blow it up anyhow.. i just did my job early. i got on the service road got onto the highway in front of the shop boosted in 2nd and third 4 seconds later boom. where can i get some cheap blocks at like an online store not ebay?

.25 deg per psi is pretty agressive, and what exhaust was on the car before you put your 3" on? Any tuning in between? </TD></TR></TABLE>
this def sounds like the problem. .25 retard isnt much and then you got 3" exhaust without a retune. kinda looking for a disater. but you say you dont care so..GL with the new motor.

I've had problems putting in shelf stock pistons in the d15b vtec. The compression height(location of the wrist pin) is higher on the d15b vtec compared to the d16z6 and d16y7. If those vitara pistons will fit the z6 and y7 blocks, then I would go for the z6 because of the vtec head. The d15b vtec that I just built had to get custom je pistons made with the correct compression height. If you put pistons from a z6 or y7 in the d15b vtec, they will stick out about 1/8" past the deck at TDC.
thanks i htink ill sell the vitaras 10 bucks cheaper than fjt lol shipped pm me
ill just get the cp 9:1 turbo pistons then thanks alot for the help .. im looking toward the overboost theory i bet it did spike from stock pipe to 3 inch i bet it spooled up to about 18 i didnt look my own fault but lol it was fun for the 5 seconds it lasted

that little T 2 small screams at 20psi eh?
now that I look at your original post you say it was only on for a week or two which means it could have been damaged way before you even went to the muffler shop and that boost spike was all it needed to get into heaven.

yeah you need to pull more timing than that dude...i ran 14 psi from a 14b for half a year on my stock z6 before i pulled the turbo kit and the engine runs fine to this day

stock to full 3" without a retune, plus lots of timing
hummm

haha...come on, you know those rods always let go at 200whp...detonation has nothing to do with it

yea i forgot about that, as soon as they hit 200whp they just melt no way to prevent it, they were designed that way

I made 207@ 12 psi with a greddy kit on a ALL STOCK D16y7 but i was a great tune, kinda rich, it lasted for 8 months then i sold the motor.
if y7 rods let go at 200whp, mine should have gone a long time ago huh??
im at 273whp on a stock bottom end and dont have any problems.
the problem must have been the .25* per psi and the 3" full exhaust...
