Default Question about my 99 Accord

I have a 99 Accord LX 4 cyl. About a week now I have started having problems engaging the car out of park. It comes out on the floor and has a button on it that you usually have to have the brake in so the button will go in and you can come out of park. Well the button doesn't want to release a lot of times. I didn't know if there was a sensor somewhere going bad and how I might find it or if some other problem. Thanks for your help

at minimum, you have a problem with the shift lock solenoid.

Have you checked your brake switch? Do your brake lights work when it's acting up?

Actually when I checked it the brake lights do not come on when it is acting up. You think it is my brake switch?

Probably. Most likely if the problem is intermittent.
