Default Autocross sunday, supposed to rain - To run my new V710s or to run my Ecsta 712s?

So there's an autocross sunday. It's supposed to rain...not heavily I don't think, but rain nonetheless. I have been autocrossing my 205/40/17 Ecsta 712s in STX with my ITR for many years. This season, I was planning on running DS for the first time (never run R comps before). I just got my brand spankin' new Ecsta V710s, in 225/50/15 for front and 205/50/15 for rear.

My question is...how do you think the tires will compare in the rain?

Unless it is absolutely pouring, with a lot of standing water on the course, R comps will be better in the rain than the streets. You should run lower pressures than you normally would and soften your shocks as well if you have adjustables. I don't think it will be much of an issue, there is only a slight chance of rain on Sunday and then only first thing in the morning.

If you have not done so already, I would try before the event to mount your R comps on the car and drive around a short distance to scrub off the mold release agent. That way you don't waste you first run slip sliding around scrubbing them in. R comps will feel a little slick until scrubbed. You don't have to go far, just enough to scuff them a bit.

See you on Sunday.

The ONLY reason I'd run the 712's over the 710's is if the 710's wont be able to touch to ground at all. I.E. lots of huge lakes.

With Fed Ex lot being on such a hill, it has to be a major deluge before there is enough standing water (actually it would be running rivers) to be an issue.
