Default Hesitation when maintaining speed?

Hey guys, recently my car has developed an odd tendancy to bog/hesitate when maintaining speed. If I nudge the gas a bit it usually (but not always) goes away, however if I go WOT, it immediately resumes "normal". I have tried 2 diff ECUs also.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Could be a lot of things - bad gas (should go away with the next fillup), clogged fuel filter, dirty air filter (which is why filters are changed in the preventive maintenance schedule), etc...

I had the same problem about 3 years ago. I replaced the cap and rotor button and the problem went away.

if everything everyone else mentioned doesnt fix it, then you should look into your o2 sensor was doing this on my hx with a gsr, and it turned out to be a o2 sensor dieing, later the CEL 41 popped up

Does it with both the stock ECU and Hondata ECU. Stock injectors. Timing, plugs and wires were done over this past winter. The rotor and cap I dunno (car has 69k on it) I actually have a new cap and rotor but no screw, can I reuse the old screw ?

&lt;- nevaR opened up dist cap or rotoR before

I wouldn't hesitate to reuse the screw. If you have an OEM replacement, check the bag becuase IIRC, it should include a new screw. Just be sure you don't strip the screwhead when removing the old rotor button.

Change the cap & rotor & see how it feels. Otherwise, I'd look at the fuel filter & run a bottle of techron. Do little things first.

Check my IM...and go to a hardware store and grab an 8 mm bolt that's the right thread and length. No stripping screw issues...

...back to mostly post hibernation.

Make that 2 votes for O2 sensor. You use it at part throttle, especially constant throttle. WOT it reverts to the fuel tables, and also when changing throttle input it will ignore the o2 sensor for a bit.

What time is it? Time to unpimp... the o2.

i just found out this problem ..

After swaping my ecu to P28.. it happends when i am in Low throttle position and specially at lower rpm below 4000

when in the traffic. cruising and trying to speed up a bit .. giving a little throttle the car like jumps and it's not smooth.
the power doesnt die out but more like a sudden spike when applying little gas.

69k is way too many miles.. my car would cut of at certain rpm and run really hot and it was 45k miles on rotor.. i don't think the rotor comes with the screw and you have to reuse the old one. i had minor hickups with hondata but not with stock injectors. recently, after switching to open loop and 3barmap sensor i don't have that issue anymore.

Is your O2 sensors! Mine did the same thing. I though it would be the cat, the dizzy, the ignition system. But all it was was the O2 sensor. In my case, it was the primary O2. I went to the junk yard and got me a GS-R primary O2 and it got things back to normal but I've destroyed a perfectly good cat in the process. That one did suck!!!

Make that 4 votes for the primary O2 sensor... mine has had the issue on and off for the past year but I've never done anything about it since it usually goes away and doesnt come back for another month.

Thanks for the helps peoples. Why doesnt the bad O2 throw a code though? I prob look into swapping out the O2 and while Im at it go ahead and change the cap and rotor since I have them.

sometimes a lazy o2 looks "good enough" to the ecu.

My 97 did the same thing. Checked the o2 sensor graph on the HDS while I was at work and it was going ape chit, so I repl the primary o2 sensor and it fixed the problem as well. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by jetydosa &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Thanks for the helps peoples. Aslong as it is wilthin specs for the ecu, it will not throw the code. This is called a "lazy" o2 sensor or previous stated.
