Hybrid/Honda-Acura Meet - Review
Well, I just got home over an hour ago... made it under about 4hrs, averaging 40mpg with my B16A1 (surprising, as my DOHC ZC only ever managed to get 30mpg). I set my VTEC to kick in at 5500rpms on the freeway between Vegas and LA... once I got into thicker Traffic where the power was needed a bit earlier, i switched it to activate sooner...anyways.
Arrived at the park at around 11:30a. Got a lot of "you drove from Vegas for this?" kind of questions. My response "I came for the go-carting AND the meet". Also met a few guys... all of which were pretty kick ***, just to name a FEW:
Ian's green civic hatch is far more impressive in person than in pictures. His car is prestine. I'm not fond of SiR front ends, but his is well done and the paint is just magnificant.
Eric, very very cool guy. His sedan is tastefully done and something I've always been interesting in purchasing. A great guy as well. How well did you do at Dromo?
Brad, pretty funny... Thankfully, there were a lot of people with the same dislike of "ricers" as I and the jokes upon a few cars that showed up were all joyfully tossed between each other. I can't remember what exact car he drove...
The guy with the white prelude with the body kit (forgot your name, sorry)...another really cool guy. My girlfriend loved your car, by the way.
Daniel, much props for getting it all organized. There were about 40? cars there and not a single arguement or festering hatred of anyone.
In all, the meet was excellent. A lot of tastefully done Hondas/Acuras (and even a few 240sx's that I wouldn't mind having). There was sooo much food and drinks. I had a great time... well worth the trip. I managed to spend close to $150 total, made $40 by selling a strut brace (wish i had brought some ECUs to sell as well) - Daniel, let me know if you have any problems.
Other highlights:
- That ******* idiot in the corolla who was doing laps...??
- Hydraulics on the Integ??
- The ROOF scoop on a Civic hatch?!??!?
- The ice cream vendor guy!!!
I took a good 40 some odd pictures. I'll have those posted soon...
Finally, the best part of my whole trip (sorry meet guys)... Dromo 1. That place ******* ROCKS! I'm gonna have to buy me a shifter cart now. I managed to have a best time of 44.1xx. The fastest ever was, i believe, 42.6xx? Not bad for a newbie to the "track". I wish more of the meet guys had gone with me. Eric was the only one who showed up early enough...but, since I was trying to head out by 5p.
Eh, i might have to come out again in a few months, but, not with my CRX... what a pain in the *** (no heat, no ac, no radio, stiff suspension, 5 point harness, no sound dampening material, etc). I'll have to bring my Maxima or something.

hey Kam, that will probably be the best meet ever! you gotta come down another time, when i have my car! btw, here's my car...its getting painted
Well, I gotta say Dromo was great as well. Actually Kam, you forgot to pick up your timing printout - your friend (can't remember his name) from Vegas has it for you. Your best lap was 24.112 - the best of anyone from the meat as far as I know - I couldn't stick around till everyone had raced, but your time was still standing. I had a 24.195, so I was pretty close to you. The track record was 22.542, so we've got to shave a second & a half off next time!
Thanks Daniel and everyone else who helped organize it - the whole deal was well worth the drive from SB. Next thing we need to do is figure out how to do this with a track day - as much fun as the karts are, our own rides would be even better.
Eric
Oh yeah, Chad - I'm certainly looking for those pics from your car - not just the lip, but the result of the whole front end conversion! Send em on once you get it back!
