hey gotta question for the guys running password or J's intake, i did a search and couldnt find what i needed, ppl running these intake does it fit under the stock type R strut bar if i have AC lines are under the intake. any major rubbing issues?

 

You shouldn't have any fitment issues. For whatever reason some are tighter than others, but it will fit If you are over concerned you can always put something on the under side of the strut bar to cushion the clearance.

 

sorry to steak ur post i will like to know if it will fit on a jdm itr since the abs system is different the abs module looks different than the usdm ones have anyone in here installed it for a jdm 96-97?

 

FROM EXPERIENCE!

J's CF Intake WILL NOT clear the stock strut bar if u have AC lines!.....it WILL clear is you DONT have AC lines.

now im not sure with jdm abs modules tho but....

My 2000 ITR, WITH AC, USDM stock motor DID NOT clear the stock strut bar with the Js Intake, i went with the J's strut bar has that clears the intake. I also beleive that Mr.Alex strut bar and Spoon SHOULD clear it!

 

I have J's intake with rigid 3pt tower bar, it fits really tight close with no AC lines but oil lines for oil cooler under the intake tho
the j's intake doesn't rub with the oil lines or the rigid on my car

 

J's is a tight fit, you'll have to bend some of the AC lines just a little bit to make it fit right. Otherwise, when you shift and you motor moves just a little bit, it will hit the strut bar. I've seen this happen on a few ITR's.

Unless you dont' want the AC to work, do not use a hammer. You can use your hands, you only have to bend them a little bit. Test fit it, and test fit it again. Make sure it's closer on the AC lines side than the strut tower bar side.

 

haha i was just joking around with the hammer, i'm gonna get a J's strut bar to get a little more clearance and for the bottom side i think i'm gonna try to wrap the AC lines with a chunk or rubber or silcon hose cut in half

Dave_B is correct. I had to slightly bend my a/c lines down the make enough room. The main problem i've had is that i need to relocated the wiring harness on the strut tower as it rubs a bit.

 

looking at dave's pic it seems to be rubbing a bit on the harness, i think when i install i'm gonna put a bit of black tape where it will rub

Acutally, the places I had the most trouble were the plugs, and the strut bar. No issues with the harness. I'll see if I can find a better shot for ya.

i will be running a J's strut bar so i get more clearance with my AC lines, but what do you suggess with plug wire issue?

i found this on goggle and the guy seems to have it zip tied away from the plugs

 

To the people that have the non-abs version, is there enough room to make an air box out of where the abs unit sits?

What I mean is, is the filter able to sit exact in there? so that you can make an air box that lines up with the wheel arch part and dont go over??

But anyways to elaborate on what I just said before my car doesnt have abs and I wanted to get a passwordjdm carbon intake for my dc2 and in conjunction make an airbox for it. Anyways to those with the non-abs version, does the filter part of the intake sit within the red box of the picture below?



I have a top fuel power chamber intake right now and the filter sits half acrossed the red line and I cant fit a custom air box there
