Default auto to manual shifter assembly problem

my buddy and i are putting an h22 into his 94 accord lx. were also converting it to a 5 speed. we have everything installed. but the shifter cables are giving us hell. We ran the cables under the intake mani and over the rear bracket and connected everything. When we go inside to test it, it feels unusually stiff. it doesnt engage all the gears correctly. what could be the problem? when we unhook the cables, everything moves around fine. we even engaged all the gears directly under the hood with no cables to make sure it wasnt a tranny problem. everything there was fine. all help from experience is appreciated. thanks

yes, they are mounted on the tranny. i dont think it has anything to do with the tightness, because they are just kinda just holding on with no bolt or cotter pin,

how freely does the shift **** move around without the cables attached there shouldnt be much holding it back unless there is a spot where the sleve is off and the cable is bare and getting caught on something

the shifter doesnt move very well without force. it seems like neutral is at the bottom where 2nd 4th and reverse should be. i cant even get into those gears because of the stop plate on the shifter assembly. something is really screwed up. i dont think any cables are open and rubbing. are they pretty flexible? as far as routing them up and over?

maybe you should adjust them then maybe they came loose and unwound you should be able to adjust them by the shifter or maybe at the tranny I think it is at the shifter its too dark to check right now but that might be your prob
