How many resonators in an exhuast system is too many???
Hey i know this topic has been covered, but what i'm asking for is video, or sound clips of people with exhuast systems that have more than one resonator.
Some people propose that it all really matters WHERE you place the resonator in regards to the muffler. Others say it shouldnt be too close to the header/cat.
The thing is i'm about to build a 2.5 inch exhuast system with an n1 muffler(yes i know ricey look, but i love it) and i was hoping to run a resonator in place of the cat, then running another resonator a couple of feet after the cat, and then another one maybe a foot before the muffler.
Basically i'm trying to mimic this fujitsubo setup but instead of a cat replace it with resonator. So in total 3 resonators and a muffler.

This sounds like overdose, but i wonder what kind of sound it produces, I'd like a low tone and hope this could work in my favor, i'm looking at the magnaflow resonators which resemble mufflers.
I've also thought about skipping the whole resontor scheme, and just put an es oval smack in the middle of the piping, and then a n1 muffler at the end, kind of like this setup.

Anyone have any comments on that???
Anyone have any other designs they think might work for me??
Oh yeah and post some sound clips thanks!!

i can't tell if your being sarcastic or not, i'll assume you are, so before the honda-trend police get on my ***, clearly i'm asking becuase i dont have any experiance or trainign in thermal dynamics and exhuast flow, hence the reason i'm posting this thread
no need for sarcasm, if my plan is flawed just let me know, any non related info save it for someone else

I was being sarcastic, I apologize. I just don't get the whole 2+ resonator thing. I had problems fitting one resonator in with a cat. On top of that, the piping kit was extremly heaving, IMO(K-Teller), and then you add a heavy resonator and a muffler on top of it. This was for my beater so I really didn't car. I would personally buy a good exhaust, but thats just me. Anyway, good luck.
thanks for the tips, i didnt even think about weight lol
so much for that i'll probably stick with just a really long resonator and call it a day

The problem I ran into when building my exhaust was clearance.
I recently built an exhaust for my EF from a Kteller mandrel bent piping kit and other components. I wanted to put the largest, or as many resonators as I could fit. Basically I wanted the quietest exhaust possible that still flows well.
I couldn't put a resonator directly under the shift linkage because it hit. And right behind the shift linkage the piping kinks and then does a 90 degree bend. So, I put a 14" resonator right after the kink (the longest I could fit).
I also replaced the cat with an 18" resonator, and then installed a nice quiet muffler out back.
So, all in all, I have an 18", a 14" and a good sized muffler.
It's super quiet at idle and part throttle, but at WOT it opens right up. Not nearly as loud as some other cars out there, but definately deep and MUCH louder than stock at WOT.
It's just what I was trying to accomplish. A well flowing exhaust that is super quiet until I really get on it, at which point I don't care about the noise.
I think two good resonators and a good muffler should be enough. But it depends on the setup. My old turbo setup didn't need much of anything and it was really quiet because of the turbo.

I'm running a 22in. magnaflow resonator after Rage header. After that I'm using a thermal exhaust which has about a 12in. resonator, then straight through muffler. My car has a low smooth sound, and then the high cam comes on, and jrsc hit's 15 psi...that get's a little loud, but very beautiful
thanks for the responces, i think im going to try that route, replace the cat with a 28 inch resonator, then further down but the largest resonator i can fit, followed by a muffler
