I heard that illuminas are bad for lowering your car...
lowering a car itself is bad and will blow any normal shock if you go too low.
tokico blues seem to have the bad reputation tho. illuminas are in a different class of shocks and come with a lifetime warranty.

I had illuminas/pro-kit on my 2k civic before I got my gc/koni setup which I put about 75k miles on and the guy I bought them from 4 years ago had about 60k on them and they still are good to go anytime I wanna throw them back on so i say if ya want to get them go for it

The illuminas I have are AWESOME!! they do come with a lifetime warranty. I have used many different brands of shocks and I love these the most

i just posted some similar stuff in another thread, but I have illumina's also. I didn't find them rought at all, actually the ride is pretty good. However, after maybe only a couple months i noticed the ride is now pretty much too soft even on the firmest setting. they don't really ride like they're blown, but the number 5 setting (firmest) now feels like a 3 did when it was new. Also they rub somewhat.
Besides being too soft for my taste the ride around town is pretty good.
