sorry for the dumb question but i was just wondering how long does slicks last. i have some slicks that i haven't used in 5 years and kept in my shed. i'm just wondering if they have a life span because i haven't used them in a long time. i only used them about 20 passes and still have some surface left. let me know...TIA!!
I bet they are dry rotted. I bought some drag wheels that had been sitting around for 2 years and the tires on them were dry rotted and really hard. You could make them sticky again by soaking them in diesel fuel but thats pretty sctech. I would pay the $300 for new ones man.
i've got an old pair of slicks that i've been thinking about "reviving". i was going to pick up some kind of tire softener and see what happens.
i plan to start off by doing a huge burnout and then apply the softner, repeat the process a couple times and see what happens. i'm not too concerned about the tires, so it should be a fun little experiment.

Hi Synergy001; Time to change the slicks out, 5- years is to long.
