Went to my first autocross today...
It was a hell of a lot of fun. My friend Adam (supra) and I drove from Miami up to Palm Bay for the event. I couldn't do my last run because I had to catch a plane but for my first time out there I don't think I didn too bad. My first run I ran 47.5 seconds, while my friend ran 52.x + penalties. Then second I ran 46.8, he ran 49.x. Then my last I ran 46.1 and he ran 47.x, and his 4th of 47.x. I came in 5th of 26 in the novice class and first place was a run by an instructor.
So now I know I need a few pointers. I find that when I concentrate on braking into a turn I try to turn as I'm braking and I just slide forward. My last run I was getting the hang of jamming the brakes then easing off right at the beginning of the turn. But I don't think I'm transferring the weight too smoothly. I watched the tape and it seemed very jerky. Should it be? or should it be smooth? Another thing that bothered me was my tires. I have Toyo Proxy FZ4s. They squeel like a bitch and I feel as if they aren't gripping as much as they should.
Either way I had a blast and can't wait to get more time out there. Any suggestions on what a begginer autocrosses should do will be appreciated. Thanks
-oh yeah, and I will post some videos up sometime of my friend and I running the course

Practice will make you more smooth, don't worry about it. You have the right idea in that you take note of your mistakes and know what you'd like to do better next time. Toyo Proxes FZ4s are terrible tires. Try to get some Azenis tires or something stickier (almost anything is stickier than FZ4s).
It's always nice to hear another ITR owner is making his way to autox.

Welcome to the the Best Legal thrill next to Real full course racing or a lapping day.
Autocross is the gateway drug to the adrenaline rush of speed that is Any type of organized racing But, if you think the X was good then ask the guys in the competition forum about a full road course..
Good luck from one who found the X last season.
