Default Want LSD, your opinion on some units

basiclly i want to equip my cable s1 tranny with LSD. i dont really have much money so i was looking towards a phantom grip unit or something similar to it. So i just wanted to know what is your guys opinion on that product. is it good, is it bad, will it mess anything up, do i need anything else along with it, any input is greatly appreciated.

thanks

hearing and having are 2 different things, i had one in my last tranny and made some great horsepower and went 11s with it, no issues ever.... over 3 years on it

there are people in the mid to low 10s with no LSD, so a phantom grip cant be all that bad for 200 bux

and that one is proved to handle well over 700 hp!!!

ask hybrid hatch about it!

there's also someone on ht who modifies phantom slips so they don't blow up your tranny, has something to do with to close clearances i believe... do a search on phantom grip, it was a recent topic....

i can tell u fron experience if u want something reliable spend the $$ a get a quaif or a real typ R lsd. ive seen about 6 of those cheap deals tear trannys up. its not the diff u need to worry about cause thier cheap to replace. but u will tear up at least 1 sencro set & thats 300$$ & thats if its only 1 i tears up. everyone buys the quaif once they learn the hard way & say they should of did this from the start. the cheap stuff dont last on daily drivers making power with grip. if it does they aint driving hard enought

...im a firm beliver in you get what you pay for. Spend the money once
on a Quaife LSD or spend twice or more on the cheap ****. im sure people have had good luck using phantom, obx, and other no frills lsd's, but there are plenty of people who have bad luck using them also. but you never hear anything bad about Quaife LSD, besides it comes with lifetime warrenty.

no i know 6 peepz who had phantoms & the other cheap product whos trannys took a big hit from them. thats why they are so cheap, when it comes to reliability u get what u pay for.

I had a phantom grip and sold the tranny to someone and its still surviving over 4 years now of heavy abuse. I recommend whoever gets it get the tuning kit with it and just install it with that. There are also 2 370+ whp civics running them with no problems. But at the same time there is a kid around here that had it installed and he never new the difference. I think his situation had more to do with the tranny though. something wrong with the internals. so phantom grip gets a from me. not to say if i had the money i would rather have a queef or kaaz.

save the $$$ and buy a Quaife LSD...unsurpassed warranty (under race conditions ) in the market AND warranty is transferrable to new owner as well

Phantom grip = junk...I have about 10 transmissions from customers that have failed using those overpriced 2 blocks of metal and springs...LOL

My advice:

Get a Quaife...unsurpassed warranty and quality in one.

In all honesty...we are not all rich and have budgets...But, if people spend thousands of dollars on an engine...why is it so hard to justify spending even half of that on a transmission that is equally important?
