Front end accident airbags deployed, do I have to reset unit?
I have a 1996 Honda Civic LX Sedan, it was in a front end collision and both the passenger and driver air bags deployed. I have already purchased both new airbags and I was wondering if I had to buy a brand new SRS unit, if I have to reset it, or if I can just plug in the new airbags? Thanks guys!
I would think you could just reset it...the SRS light should still be on? What about the sensors? Do they have to be replaced? I would call a dealership and ask, I would think you'd have to replace the SRS sensor thingies and reset the SRS, then just plug in the new airbags.

Per the helms, once the system is deployed, you need a new SRS unit.
Well thats shitty...... brand new from Honda there $475.24USD anyone have a better idea how to get a hold of one? Or are the airbags gonna have to be "just for looks"
I found a used SRS control unit from a salvage yard. Don't go to pick and pull, find a year that gives a warranty on their parts. I did this on my 1997 Civic EX and got one for $150 with a 90 day warranty. It all worked out fine, but beware sometimes when airbags deploy the wires in the clock spring burn up (like a fuse) along with the yellow airbag wiring.
