Default Photography/Photoshop experts, look here.

Trying to figure out how to make a certain effect. Don't know if its a camera trick or photoshop, or a little bit of both. I'll try to find an example of what I'm talking about, but basically, how do you get those shots where the car has good lighting and the foregroud as well, but everything around the car seems to be blacked out, as if the car were in a pitch black room with a spotlight on it?

TIA

why thank you

bleh so i just looked thru every thread on the search that came up when i typed in "night shoot"... nothing. I know I've seen it on here recently and it was either a JDM front teg or an S2000. I know thats weird that I can't remember which one. I've seen the effect done before and it looks so clean and professional. Any help would be much appreciated!

Brewer used an external flash set up with unbrella for both pics. You can check out Jtuned features for pics of the whole car with flash, most of the features on there use it.

thank you so much... i've been messin around in CS2 with it, and i think thats exactly what i was talking about... It's not giving the exact same effect, i think because i have no pictures of car's front ends with a dark background. Also, I cant really get the transition of the "spotlighted" area to kinda flow into the blackness, it's like abruptly cut off. Any PS guys out there that can tell me what I'm doing wrong? Can anyone provide an example of this effect please?

Those are done with external flash. Some use umbrella's, some don't.

Here's Brewers for sale thread when he had his external set up: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1475779
