'96 Accord VTi Auto Transmission help
hi. i'm driving a 96 Accord Vti with automatic transmission. well, i feel like it's not driving the way it should, like when shift to D4 from neutral or park, i get this certain time interval drag before the car actually moves forward, although i feel a slight jolt on the car when i shift, but it doesn't go forward till after a short while... if i want it to go forward once i shift to D4,i have to step on the gas a little bit, then shift to D4, that's the only time i feel that it goes forward at once.
also, i'm feeling that the car isn't operating with the same power it used to, or it's supposed to have....i don't feel the 2.2 liter engine, sometimes i even feel that the 1.6 liter civic has more power....
Any ideas what area to check on the car? thanks....

have you changed your trans fluid? You really should change it every 30,000 miles or 54,000Km.
My 94 accord has 144K miles on it and it has been slow to engage so I let the car run for a min before I drive away and it seems to be OK. I change my fluid every year on my cars and I think it has gone a long way towards keeping the trans in tip top shape.

i changed my tranny fluid when my car was at 30 and 60k and my CEL came on because of that.
i now change my ATF every 15k. if you do it at 30 it'll get too dirty.

yup,i just had my transmission fluid changed. although i'm not sure if i should be using anything specific ATF for the accord transmission.
it still hasn't changed, slow to engage, and now i feel like it's not shifting gears smoothly....
if ever my tranny has leaks, does it have a huge effect on its performance?

I know changing tranny fluid is like wasting money, but it will save your money at the end, I drive hard and carry – very heavy loads like 5/10 computers, printers (heavy), scanners and other stuff, so I change my trans fluid almost every 2 oil change.
I don’t care if I spend money on my car, because I make living with it.
Always put Honda Genuine ATF – don’t look for cheap oil
I always use Honda parts / fluid only – but I do have a aftermarket cat..lol
Read the back of Honda ATF bottle, new version of oil can take lots of heat and abuse – again change them anyway.
