buying a chipped P28... HELP?!
I just got RC 550 injectors for my turbo GSR. I am planning on using Hondata or Crome or similar software based for tuning. I was told to get a chipped P28. Is it risky buying off ebay? How much should I expect to pay? Is it as easy as removing the old ECU and replacing it with the new one? Lastly, does it matter what P28 I look for, or will any work?
Thanks in advance

I wouldnt recommend buying a chipped p28 from ebay. A lot of them are listed as "chipped p28's" or p72's, p30's, etc. But really, they are converted p05/p06 ecu's with all the labels taken off, so you don't even know what kind of ecu your getting or the type of quality work your recieving from these guys. For a genuine chipped/socketed p28, expect to pay anywhere from $150-$200. Depending on who your getting it from and if its already a premade base map that they're giving you. Yes it is very easy to remove the old ecu. Take off your kick panel on the passenger side, remove the 3-5 bolts that are holding the ecu in place, then take a flat head and undo the plugs that are plugged into the ecu. An auto or 5 speed p28 that has been socketed/chipped properly will work. Its very easy to convert an auto p28 ecu to 5 speed when chipping it.
