Default VTEC sound changes due to air intake?

I got the short ram intake installed and my vtec sound very differently before and after vtec. I don't know whether this is due to changing the intake or there is something wrong in my vtec system.

Can you guys share some experience? especially on high cam, it screams like hell.

on a stock GSR (with stock p72)

VTEC = 4500RPM
Secondaries = 5800RPM

when under ~4000 rpms during regular driving it's hardly noticable. at half throttle or greater before the secondaries are opened it has a nice deep tone. after the secondaries opened its tone is deeper and noticably louder than before but you can still hear that raspy BWEHHHH, you know that sound. currently i have a stock exhaust so all i hear other than road noises is the intake. i like it. it's there when you want it and not there when you don't.

an intake would change the sound a little, but not really you need to do a lot more to make vtec scream
