hey guys iam a daliy driver and i love the reliabilty of my stock ls motor. recently ive wanted to make more power with my engine. what i was thinking of doing was doing a ls vtec conversion. just the basic convision with out rebuilding the block. i was looing to produce an extra 30-40 hourse power, but at the same time i want to keep the reliabilty of my engine because iam a daliy driver. what do you guys think i should do. lets hear some opinions.
see i was in your position... then i got greedy and went for boost... lol ls vtec is nice and not very hard to do and you will get a good horse power gain from it as well... good luck with the build
I own a 99 LS, I did a Vtec head swap on my LS at 100,000 miles. I've since put in about 48,000 miles and 2years with no problem. The donor head came from a 98 ITR, with 58,000 miles. I love the way car pulls, I also added alot of bolt ons and internals with very good dyno results. I've added I/H/E, stage 2 BLOX cams and valve train, JDM ITR pistons, crank balanced, Egale rods, arp rod bolts, arp head bolts, BLOX air intake manifold, and a 68mm throttle body, hondata tuning. All of this with good tuning has brought me to an outstanding 243WHP and 196 torque... It's sick, just very expensive! If I had to do it again, I would have gone turbo LS setup...
