H22 isn't a good engine at all to use if your putting a turbo on it.

well, there are many ludes (bb6's)w/ +130 miles on their engines, and they're holding pretty good the boost. But yeah, if you wanna stick w/ the H series and boost it H23 is your best option.

how is that? it has the same sleeves. which is what makes the h22 weak for boost. it can be done, you just gota know how to tune or know someone who does.o, and running ONLY about 6-8 pounds of boost helps too.

If you are going to boost, keep the f22 tranny. Your flywheel and clutch will probably work on it too. Like stated, keep the boost down, and disregard whoever made the h23 post.

How much boost can you safely run on these motors? A guy keeps bringing a Civic into the shop thats turboed and melted the pistons on it so now he runs 2lbs of boost that seems very minimal to me even on a stock motor. Is this like those or can you run more than that?

Based on most experiences that I've read, the H22 is not a prime candidate to boost, it has been done and can be but there have been many experiences which say it is not favorable, H23 is more favorable, I'm not an expert so I 'm not gonna say that vtec is the problem as vtec is not the only differences between the 2 engines. I would assume that the owner of the civic is just driving his car too hard like a tard and thus his engine is always promblematic.

the frm sleeves arent the weak link, its the ringlands. the frm sleeves make it a problem to install aftermarket pistons (mahle however makes frm compatible slugs). there is even a civc hatch with running a 600+whp stock sleeved h22 with their pistons.

That guy needs to tune his car. As for how much boost, it depends on the turbo, but for a t3/4 I wouldn't go over 6psi.

yeah but how relaible would that be? for a drag/race car, it's fun and cool i guess but spending all the money and hit 600 whp for once or twice is just pointless.

not to bash anything but it's not exactly that streetable/useable.

To the creator: you might want to keep the longer gearing accord tranny, it's gonna be more fun with that than shift before the sweet boost came in

hasnt been anyone to go over 10-15k on the mahle slugs yet. jdogg had valve relief issues with them and earl had problems running them w. forged rods.

h22 with 8-10lbs on a conservative tune is very doable.

this man speaks the truth.

and to anyone saying "I'll only run 6psi ever" - you're kidding yourself. once you get a taste of the power you will want more, especially since it's right there at your fingertips.

LOL @ 2 pounds of boost. why bother...

i wasn't pointing out the slugs, as much as the fact the sleeves can take punishment
