Default Problems with VTEC after ZEX 59300 cam install :(

Hi! So I installed zex 59300 on my d16z6 and now I have some problems when v-tec engages. After v-tec engages three of cylinders looses compression for some minute and then it just goes fine. What should be the problem? Should I readjust valvesprings? How much should I space them?

And second question.. Is it neccessary and worth to adjust cam gear when cam's installed (I have installed but it sits on 0 for now) on single cam engine?

i would defiantly re-adjust the valve lash adjust them to the specs given to you by comp cams, as for the adjustable cam geari found with my 59300 cam i got the most power at 0* cam timing so i dont think you need one

just out of curiosity, was the cam worth it? what kind of power increase do they offer? I have never kept a single cam in my car in my life, but Im thinking of it if these mods actually make some hp

Problem still persists.

Re-checked valve lash and it was ok! Didn't have to re-adjust it.

So I changed v-tec solenoid today and without changes- after v-tec engages cylinders looses compression for about minute.

Any other ideas?

how can you tell that your cylinders are losing compression? sounds like the vtec crossover is too early....do you have a chipped computer is it a ebay chip?....i've had problems with those...the basemaps are all shietty.....buy a kenji computer....before his computer i had a skunk2 ecu and when it hit vtec it would flutter for a little while then pull....and this was on stage 1 cams..now i am running stage 2 and my vtec is at 6k...IDK

I went for engine diagnostics so they checked everything and told me, after kicking v-tec it seems like valves don't close properly.

I do have chipped P28 by Chrome! v-tec kicks at 5000 rpm

Also I disconnected v-tec solenoid & there are no problems at all then..

Still need advice and help!

if the valves aren't closing properly AFTER vtec, it soundsl ike a prolbme with the cam, no? Like the selenoid isn't pushing it all the way over or something :-\

well when the motor has vtec engaged the cam doesnt slide over you know that right, oil pressure locks a pin in the secondary cam lobe so it engages.

OP, check you LMA's (lost motion actuators) they might be the problem.

Can you tell me where can I find them under the hood?

Valvesprings? No, I am running stock. Most people say I don't have to upgrade them if I don't rev over 8000 rpm

under the valve cover you will see 4 nipple looking like things on the top of the valvetrain assembly, when you remove the top girdle on the assembly they will actually fall out of it... letme see if i can find a pic...

here right above the spark plug holes

OK,I found it in the Civic manual. Thanks for the picture!

So I checked them when I re-checked valve lash. Nothing special with this "lost motion assembly". Looked good to me. How can I inspect them and is it necessary?

the LMA's are spring loaded and should slide back and forth easily when you push on them
