Door latch problems
I had two CRX’s given to me, and 3 of 4 doors are not shutting properly without slamming them. I have been oiling the heck out of them, and doing every kind of striker plate adjustment I could possibly do, to no avail. I finally took a good look at the door that was shutting properly with almost no effort, and found there is a black rubber or plastic piece inside the latch mechanism that you can see when the door is open; while the others don’t have it. Apparently they have completely wore out or broke off of the other ones. Called the Honda house, and they still stock door latches for it, but they want something like $95.00 + tax. Tried quite a few of the parts stores here, and also Rockauto on the internet, and none of them carry it. Anybody else found a place to get these at a little bit more reasonable price? Or does anyone have any tips they know of that can get an old door latch working again to where the door gently closes like it is supposed to? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Unfortunately, there is not a single CRX in any of the salvage yards I checked in my area. It seems most yards crush them after a period of time. I may have to take a trip to the Dallas metro area, but for now, will keep searching the internet for a new replacement, and one a bit more reasonable in price than the $95.00 that the Honda dealership wants.
