Default Car killing batteries?

my car has crammped out 2 batteries in the past 6 months

the batteries wont hold a chagre anymore

The car hasnt run in about a month and I let the battery charge over night, then I jumped it today and it was running fine

I took the cables off and it was running for a few minutes then I shut it off and went to start it again and no spark

my battery light isnt on, so I do not think it is my alternator

yea, well the first one came with the car and the second one was fine until recently

I think the alternator is fine, the battery basically just start the car and the rest of the time the car runs off the alternator

maybe its weak and not charging the batter right

But the battery wont hold a chagre after a direct jump and charging over night

you said the car sat for a month.. if the battery was in a discharged state for this time you could have damaged the battery.. you really should check the complete charging system to see whats going on.

I have seen a few honda alt not totaly die but put out less voltage than what is needed to charge the battery(car runs fine).. you could have a bad battery cable too...

I'm sure you put the cables back on the battery before you tried to start it again right.

I have already been thru two batteries in the 3 years that I have owned my DA. It might be a combination of the Florida heat and cheap $40 batteries, but they were under warranty. My alternator checks out fine on the multimeter.

You might have a short that slowly drained your battery as it sat for that month, and then once completely drained, it won't take a charge anymore. Also check the condition of your grounding wires.

Yup, check to make sure you aren't grounding the battery somewhere. I went through 3 batteries in my Durango before I finally figured out the light in the hood had come loose and was grounding my battery when I closed the hood. Thank God for costco and their no questions asked return policy.

check for a parasitic drain on the battery (meaning the battery is draining when everything is off) this is how:

1 use a multimeter, set it to amps
2 dissconnect the pos. + cable from battery
3 put one lead on battery post and one one the cable end
4 if you have more than about 30 miliamps there is something draining the battery and you need to find and fix it. (or take it somewhere so they can find and fix it)

First thing i would do is a alternater output test. You can either do it yourself with a ohmmeter, or go take it out (PITA) and take it to autozone or napa and have them test it. If it is good, then i would do whatteg racer 877 said.

most shops should be able to test the alt in the car ... I test every battery and charging system during a service.. and I don't take the alt out...
