1999 Honda Accord EX
Automatic Tran.

My fiance' decided to get the bright idea and replace my gear shift **** with another. Unfortunately, when he did so, while I can shift among gears, when I go to put my car in park (and the light registers it is), I can't take my keys out because, technically, my car is NOT in park.

He thought that it was a height adjustment that needed to be fixed in order for it to remedy itself....that worked for once or twice, but now we're back to square one.

Question:

1) Any idea for remedying the problem?

2) Could the problem be caused by the fact that the gearshift - for mounting - came with (can't remember the name of them) screws that were supposed to 'anchor' the gear shift? (Gear shift can still move around, lift up....yeah...great...I know)

3) Could good ole Super Glue help or hinder?

if the little push swithch is not fully disengage when your shifter is a P, they wouldn't let you yank out the key

just adjust the shifter a tad higher
