Default Magnaflow Hi-flow cat sound like crap!!`

Hey guys, how are ya? Remember the topic about 2 weeks ago regarding Tsudo catbacks? Well, I have one and it sounded awsome. No complaints what so ever when running a stock cat. Then I installed a Magnaflow Hi-flow cat and it sounds really ricey! SUPER tinny. It is embarrassing. Any ideas on how to get rid of this sound? Gut it?? It used to sound wikkid and really deep toned before. Thanks in advance.
Peace,
Jeff

Thats strange. Usually the Magnaflow/Catco cat sounds like a normal cat.

yeah, i got my magnaflow cat because my exhaust was too loud, and it sounds alot better now. Did you do anything else to your exhaust?

Maybe try getting a longer resonator for the midpipe.

This usually happens when you put a high flow cat pipe in or a de-cat pipe. It sounds more tinny because the gases are escaping more freely. The reason being for it sounding deeper with the normal cat in, is because it is more restricted, so the sound will be more muffled and bassy. If you know what i mean lol

yeah, did you have a cat on before, or did you not have one, I assumed you didnt have one. If you had the stock one on before, then hondacrx92 is right.

edit: reading owns me, nvm, listen to hondacrx92

High flow cat on a stockish car = worthless. Put the OEM cat back on and call it a day.

They cut off the flange when they removed the stock cat. How would it sound if I removed the hi flow and replaced it with a test pipe? Thanks for all your input guys.
Peace,
Jeff

I'm convinced aftermarket cats do nothing but make exhausts sound like ****.

Test pipe will probably sound the same or worst

I don't mind mine. My exhaust as a whole is somewhat audible but not raspy. Nice deep tone.

AND I passed emissions with flying colors

same problem, had a direct fit carsound cat w/ magnaflow catback and sounded like ***... replaced it with a stock cat and it sounded 100x better. I don't think there was any performance gain other than additional noise. Besides it was useless for me because I couldn't pass NY emissions with it.
