Buying s2k in May..but need help on hardtop
Hey guys..i just sold my hatchy on ebay and already got the 6gs plus the money ill be saving up till the end of May I should have 11-12gs for the s2k.. I set my mind and color on the new laguna blue pearl...I will have a good chuck on money to put down but i want to do some upgrades... My main upgrade I want to do is buying a hardtop..but only hardtop iam considering is the mugen one..but I rather put a good downpayment then buying a mugen hardtop..i rather pay less monthly..but what iam considering to do is buying the OEM hardtop with the discount I get since iam buying the car there, and selling it immediatly and get that money and putting it towards ordering a mugen one..keep in mind I have to put at least 9-10 g's downapayment in order for honda to finance me without having to have a co-signer...so with that said, I can "buy" the oem hard top..sell it...get the money and add another say 800 bucks to buy the mugen top and paint it and iam set..so its like iam financing the mugen hardtop... but not sure if iam doing the right thing..or if anyone is willing to buy a new laguna blue hardtop...and for how much...give me some ideas..thanx again
credit card is a bad idea ... you gonna end up in debt ... save then spend is way to go ... modding car has no ending then you just gonna end up maxing out your credit card .. people tend to think that way ...
thats why i bought all my parts cash ... even my car itself ... NOT bragging just saying ...

put all your money for down payment so you have lower APR ... get to know the car first and enjoy it ... think of modding it later on when you can afford it

ok...kool...you guys are right...lower APR is a smart idea not to mention I will be lowering the monthly payments...I just figured if i use all the money for the S its going to take me longer to get the parts I want for it... but one thing that convince me was what Fr-mod wrote...getting to know the S first..yeh ur right..thats what ill do..save up like i said 11-12gs and putting at least 11gs down and save 1 for emergencies.......thanx
buy the car first then worry about a hardtop.
if your making a thread about affording it, you probably can't. i know i can't
dont worry not many people have 6k's laying around to put on a car.

i agree, but my job situation and pay won't alow me to pay cash for anything. i pretty much charge everything, but i know where my limits are and when to stop.
right now i stoped, i can't buy anything for about 2-4 months

Only thing I buy with the CC's are maintenance items. Tires, brakes, fluids. Parts come from cash. If you can't buy parts with cash, you shouldn't. Being in debt for a set of blinging wheels doesn't qualify as bling, because the **** belongs to the bank, not you.
Paying in cash usually gets you a discount if you know where to go. (ie. no tax, dealer prices, homie hookup prices)
I do have the money to pay cash for the mugen hard top and painting it..thats for sure..its just I guess having a lower monthly payment would be better off then buying parts for the car...but i agree...buying parts cash is better...if not..like one said..its the bank who owns it.

for you it does.
here in NJ we have nothing around, everything is ordered on the phone and i have to give a CC number or mail a money order out. I don't trust mailing out to companies, so i rather give the #'s.

You may not even WANT a hardtop. Get the car, find out on your own what weak points you'd like to address and then start making decisions.
I love the look of a hardtop but if I had one, I would never put it on... I like putting the top down too much.

may which is almost june which is almost summer. i'd say save the money and enjoy the summer with the top down and then at the end of the summer when you have more money decide what you want to do.

Get the car as cheap as you can first (if that includes the OEM hardtop, then so be it). Enjoy the car, especially with summer here. Pay the car note down as best you can, or pay it off. Sell off your OEM hardtop. Then start modding. The only time I'd get the hardtop before paying the car off is that if the soft top got slashed in a theft attempt. I'd let insurance take the hit on a hardtop.
BTW, if you get the an extreme quality mod when the car is mostly stock, it starts from something like this:
And ends up being something like this:
