DC5-R ECU part #???
Whats the compression then?,....either way,..why do people put R ECU's in non R's(GSR's,SI,.etc),...every little bit helps correct?Does it hurt,..if it does--->how???Thats probably where the Type-S got detuned when it got off the boat!!!IN the ECU,..thats the only other place I can think of,..not sure what the Comp is on the DC5-R???????
I could care less about the cams,..I'll hold out and just wait for the supercharger!
The DC5-R Tranny would be nice to have

It'll probably run rich and not make any more power. Plus, its tuned for 100 octane gas which they have in JDM land, so it mot likely runs lots of timing as well.

Now as Reid said they either
1. have the cams springs etc.
or
2. are Idiots
You will not gain a thing from using an ECU for the Type R in the Type S
1.First and foremost you will run richer than you already are - Loss of Power
2.The ECU is tuned for roughly 98 Octane fuel The highest you'll find readily available is 93 or 94 Unless you plan on mixing 100 octane race gas (Should only cost you about $55 a tank)
3.I forget the exact #'s and don't feel like looking it up right now but the compression is about .5 higher on the DC5R So again the ECu will cause you to lose power.
4. X over points are optimized for the DC5R Cams you are running S cams - Loss of power
5. You stated "I could care less about the cams,..I'll hold out and just wait for the supercharger!" So why in the world would you get the DC5R ECU?
The ECU should be the last thing you do, or at least father down the road depending what your overall goal is.
Do you have a Header? Intake? Exhaust? Those would be the First things to do on that car.
The DC5R Tranny with its LSD and gearing will help you and would be a good pick, But I'd probably do the I/H/E first.
Also if you want to make your car faster you should have gone with 16" TE37 instead of 17"
Dude,.What is your problem,.I was asking a question,.thats it!Everyone else seemed to answer it ok,..whats w/ the damn "TUDE"hahaha
Why in the world would you sit there and comment on my typing,....who cares,.it gets the point across.Which was,.would the ECU work,.I didn't say I had it ,but, was curious to see what it would do!Attitude,...we are on a computer.Theres really no such thing as attitude.and you won't have that,..did I call you out personally(TYPERMsN) and say " hey would the Ecu work,..etc,...." no i don't think so,..answer the question and leave it @ that!!!SO much negativity here on H-T!!
Why does the DC5-R have 17's then!?16's don't look good on a RSX,IMO.maybe on a DC2 but I don't like 16's(RSX),.remember they came on my car stock,.unlike the 15's on the Type-R!
But for everyone else that has answered my posts,..thank you!
I can already see where this ones gonna go,..please lock it(THREAD)!!!!!

Well, im guessing the DC5R has 17s to clear the Brembo brakes? Also, i did sense just a HINT of attitude, its not just TypeRmsn. Were just trying to help you out here, and speaking of negativity, look at your posts pal.
its just to touchy in here,...SOrry but it was a question,..thats it,...no attitude,..like I said,..its a computer,..on the phone maybe but not in a chat site!I don't have the ECU,..just wanted a reply,...now its over,.I'm buying a Cutlass!!!!I give up!
Don't bother with the ECU just yet. I would imagine that the Type R ECU would not be worth the significant investment due the reasons mentioned above. You will see better gains from I/H/E/suspension/tires/brake mods first.
I think it will take a while before people figure out how to tune the i-VTEC. With the variable cam timing, I imagine that the engine will be even more sensitive to changes of the electronic systems. You would be best to wait instead of experimenting.

Thank you,......the answer to a question!!! I hear ya!!!!! I don't have the ECU or even have the money to get it,...but wondered if it would work? THANX MAN!

You should really take a breath and reread my post since I just gave you a suggestion since the 16" will help you. Oh yeah I'm also the only person who answered your post
(At least in detail)
Well, I didn't apparently take it the way a few here have.
Actually most of differences for power is the cams, head gasket, header and intake, intake manifold with ecu. Remember you only need 217bhp to equal the ITR in Japan.
If you really want the fuel shortly probably by the end of this week I will be able to supply 100octane unlead fuel from ELF Fuels from France.
