Oil going black rather quickly
I had my oil changed on March 17th, had a track day on March 20th and I've driven maybe 700kms since. It's black already
. I use Castrol GTX 5w-30; always have. I've noticed it before but never really paid any attention to it.
Car runs fine, no problems whatsoever.
Comparing it to my mom's CR-V which is clean as hell after like 2500kms of driving, if not more.
Is this normal? Should I be concerned? Any idea what would be causing this if it is a problem?
Any input would be appreciated.

what does your air filter look like? If its dirty then its the problem... but to be honest with you i dont think its uncommon for it to be black that quickly... as long as the oil isnt thin..

Nothing. Theyre in a little world of their own
Its common for the oil to go black in a short space of time. If you were pumped around an engine at 70/80psi and at temps running close to 100degrees Celcius, you'd go black in a short space of time too

Isn't it also good policy to change the oil after a track event anyways? Autocrossing is one thing, but lapping is another. The engine will be hotter for much longer.
I don't know much on this, but if I had to guess, I would think that is normal.

Yeah I wouldn't worry too much as to what the oil looked like. If you're concerned, spend the $20-30 and have the oil analysez at Terry or Blackstone from BIOTG

WTF? Ok there buddy.
WTF? Ok there buddy.
Its not getting split reviews, gmacarize mentioned it and you jumped to the conclusion that it was the reason for your oil turning black. gmacarize is talking through his ***.
DUn worry about it too much...My oil turned dark after 7oo miles of driving. No track days.
But, you should ALWAYS change it after a track day...I do mine at the end of the day...

that's right. drive it like a honda. =P anyway, as far as white rocket's comparison to the CRV, unless the CRV saw a track, i don't think it's a fair comparison.

as already mentioned yes, the oil changing from the wonderful golden to darker and then black is quite normal.
If your so concerned about your oil then you should send a sample to blackstone labs for analysis:
