I just did a Magnaflow 2 inlet" and 2.25 inlet"
I just got it done. I have a 2.25" piping. Stock cat with a 17" resonator.

this is the one I got.
I was wondering why it sounds raspy between 1k - 3k RPM, then from there, it's all motor sound. It's not suppose to sound raspy right?
and I was wondering if it was carb legal.
I just passed smog with the same piping and everything, the onlything I changed was the muffler.

The muffler does not make a difference to the C.A.R.B. All they care about is whether or not your emissions system is functional. As long as the volume is under control, you're totally legit.
As far as the raspy sound goes, there are a lot of factors that add up to that. Intake, IM, header, cat internals, resonator, pipe diameter and muffler are a few. The engine type (sohc, dohc, displacement, valves, compression, etc..) makes a difference too.
Custom exhaust can be hit or miss in the sound department. I will say this though, all of my cars have had Magnaflow mufflers and they've all had a nice quiet/deep tone to them.

i have a deep tone, same exact muffler as you on my EG. i have a rattle but its' because there's a gigantic gash in my exhaust manifold right now right above the O2 sensor. other than that, its great. i'm doing custom 2.25" with no resonator, just magna cat converter + magna muffler.
I don't know what resonator you have but I think if you get a magnaflow resonator like this one, it might make a difference. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem
