The DC2 Integra Type R was a homologation special. It was extensively modified over the regular DC2 Integra, and they had to be sold in North America in sufficient quantities to be able to race them.
The DC5 never needed to be homologated because there are no structural changes between the DC5 RSX Type S and the DC5 Integra Type R.
The fact of the matter is that the DC5 was never as good a race car, relatively, as the DC2 Type R was. The DC2 just happened to be the right car at the right time, and the DC5 just had too many limitations for Acura to be interested in wanting to support racing it.
