1997 Accord 2.2 Whine
My wifes 97 Accord 2.2 has a whine coming from under the timing belt cover when the vehicle is cold. After the car warms up, it's gone.
The vehicle has 172K Miles.....I replaced the timing belt, balancer belts and oil pump drive at 151K miles (with OEM Honda Parts).....I also replaced the tensioner and water pump (non-OEM Parts).
I know its coming from the timing belt area since I have disconnected the fan belts to rule out the alternator, a/c compressor and p/s pump. Sure enough, the car is still whining with the fan belts disconnected.
Any thoughts would be appreciated......Thanks much

first thing i would do is to readjust the timing belt , to make sure it is not a bit tight,, if too tight , it will make a whining noise
Once that's done , if the whining is still there, you might have a water pump or tensioner bearing noise..

I will do that this weekend.
This is basically the procedure of removing the value cover, loosening the tensioner and moving the crankshaft the opposite direction (by 3 timing belt teeth) then tightening the tensioner right?

NO NO NO.....do not remove the valve cover .. no need to. . All you do is .. loosen up the 14 mm nut in the middle of the lower timing belt cover,( that nut is the t-belt adjuster ) get a 19mm socket, long extension and rachet, turn the crank first clockwise, then counterclockwise, retighten the 14 mm nut and you are done,,
