Default Weekend Work: ARC Magic Wings and JDM HID Adjustment

I was home from school for Easter weekend so I managed to squeeze in a few things that needed to be done with the car. First up in line was removing the VIS CF front lip. Carbon Fiber is way too brittle to be daily driving 5 inches from the road. Its worthy replacement: OEM lip with ARC winglet thingys from BlueR

Gettin It Done -

Done -

Next task in line - Adjusting the beam of the HID's. The driver side was aimed too high and I would get a flash once in a while from people thinking I had my brights on, so I had to lower it and then raise the passenger side a little to even it out. I also pulled the driver side beam towards the right more.

Before -

After -

Lookin Purty all Done

Just a couple more pics I took before the battery died (the camera not the car ) -

Hope you guys enjoyed killing 3 minutes

I haven't gotten a chance to drive hard with them, and I wouldnt be able to feel a difference anyways since I havent driven the car in a month, but I did talk to Mike at IPS racing about them. He used to have them on his ITR and at the track he said that he noticed them giving the front tires a little bit more traction on mid-high speed turns. They stick out from the bumper about an inch to an inch and a half and all the air that would otherwise go under the car gets routed along the side and through them... which I assume has a pitch to it and provides downforce.

I wouldnt be able to feel the difference... I just think they look cool lol

Make sure your's have the brass looking metal brackets. Its pretty simple, they just go between the front lip and the bolt that holds the front lip to the bumper. I had to use thinner bolts however since the OEM ones have a thick collar area that wouldnt fit through the bracket hole. Make sure you get them on there tight... any effectiveness of these things is from not allowing air to flow between them and the lip, instead channeling the air to the side.

The headlights are 98-spec HID. HID's became standard in 98 and weren't available before then

How did you adjust your beam pattern?? I have the exact same problem with the drivers side being higher than the passenger side.

When you pop the hood and look midway along the headlight and down at the bottom, you'll see a metal gear looking type thing. There are indicators that show which direction to turn it to raise the beam and which way to lower it.

and JUN.R... don't mess with your front-end, your car looks sexy as hell as it sits

Don't forget the other one that moves it left or right

I had to do the same thing that you did.....only problem is...I lowered my passenger light too low I gotta get off my lazy *** and do some more adjusting here soon.

Good for protecting your front lip too

BTW to the thread creator, you should trace the outline of the winglets on paper and post it up. Im sure some of us DIY guys would love to make our own version of them

Beats paying the heavy "jdm" price for them

Yeah, I remember you NY guys saw it at the ITR meet that was a week after I bought it. I had spent a ton of time on it before that event and it STILL was pretty haggard

About the DIY... The next time I take them off, I'll trace its dimensions... no idea when this will be though. One thing about the material though is that it flexes as you tighten it up to contour around the lip. The brackets wouldnt be the easiest thing to make either.
