1989 Honda Accord EX problem
I have an 1989 Honda Ex carburated and on warm/hot days she will fast idle to around 2000 RPM while the clutch is in. Any suggestions on what may be the problem?correction for the problem? Any help would be appreciated Thanks.
At first I was going to say that there wasn't an EX model for that year, but then I noticed you're in Canada. (I've never heard of a 3rd gen EX.) However, I'm still surprised that an EX model is carbureted. Anyway.
My first suspicion is a small tear or crack in a vacuum line, especially considering the age of the car.

In canada the fuel injection version would have had a i behind the model ie lxi or exi. dx/lx/ex were all carburated. Thanks should i be checking by the carb for vacuum leak or is there a more prevalent spot to check...ie there is quite a few vacuum lines to check. Thanks for the help
To be honest, it's been quite some time since I had my '88. I've forgotten the routing of the vacuum lines since then.
You may want to check out http://www.3geez.com. It's a site dedicated to 86-89 Accords. There will be more people over there that will be able to help, as most people on this site are only familiar with '90 and up.

I've heard this too, but not until after I sold my '88. Go figure. It would have made things much easier for me than checking the 7349 vacuum lines one by one.
