Default Upper Control Arm question

Okay while putting on my DA front brakes I stripped out the ball joint on my upper control arm. I have searched everywhere and I cannot find just the upper ball joint by itself, everyone has it with the upper control arm. Seeing how the upper ball joint is the same I just wanted to know if I could pop it out of the UCA from a DA(Friend has one),and then put it in my UCA.

No. It will through off the alignment badly as the DA control arms are a different length.
I have an a/m control arm laying around, new -not got around to putting it on the car -Let me know if you want to make me an offer for it.

not sure if the balljoints itself are the same, if they are then fine. just check, or it might throw off the suspension.

you can just retap the threads on the balljoint tho. dont be afraid to use a vice grip on the tapered surface of the balljoint to hold it in place while you chase the threads. then smooth it over when finished.

or just buy a new balljoint from spc. they have a part number for the regular one. but your arm has to be from 90-91 for it to be removable from the arm. 88-89 balljoints were welded to the arm.

*Ouch* well, that will happen.

No, the parts don't interchange, I had a set of both arms apart recently and the ball joints were of a different diameter.

Ball joints CAN be ordered separately- I got them offhands locally, but a German parts manufacturer by the name of Meyle makes them- Google that name & you should get their online catalog. Currently running new Meyle ball joints in my DA knuckles and also their inner/outer tie rods on my rebuilt steering rack.

Don't swap in DA UCA's X2

You might try rethreading first X2 (tho a 13-15 yo ball joint prolly should be replaced...)

Good luck with your build

Well the gameplan wasn't to swap out the entire UCA it was just to take the ball joint from the DA suspension and stick it in my UCA.my CRX is a 90 so that shouldn't be a problem. people say that I can order them seperatly, where can I get that from?

order through AutoZone part number is FA2161. I think this should work, the ball joint is for a 1990 civic sedan. This is upper ball joint only, i believe thats what your looking for. Its about 20 bucks! Good luck, let us know if this works out for you!

Autozone won't have it already went that route. It says that they can order it but when they attempt to it says out of stock so they can't even get it from their warehouse.
