Default Mysterious coolant leak...Im so confused!

Okay I have a completely mysterious coolant leak and I cant seem to find it. When the car is running there is no leak. Usually I can leave the car sitting and the next day there will be no coolant, however after a couple days there is a puddle that forms out of nowhere. I kind of think that it leaks out of somewhere when I jack up my car.

So where the hell can it be coming from? Where it leaks under the car is about where the shifter is except a little to the right and a little bit forward of that. When I check the hoses and everything they are good.

That is a little weird. I think the puddle is formed by the leak hitting some part of your car and traveling down it to where the shifter is (because there's obviously no coolant passages near that area).

I doubt it would simply leak only when you jack up your car. Perhaps the leak is higher up, but having the system under pressure (while driving) would cause the leak as well.

I know you checked the hoses, but check near the heater core area, where the hoses go in/out of the firewall. Also check the actual area between the block/head behind the block.

My friend had almost the same problem with his EG6. If you were standing outside the car looking into the engine the leak was usually underneath the pulleys and back towards the bulkhead. Looking into it it wasnt the waterpump but a seal on the back of the engine.

When the car was hot and running there was no leaks, only when the car had been standing about parked up.

Here is a better picture.

There could also be other reasons for the leak but this was his problem. Its a pain to replace these with the engine in place and if you do there is also another seal on the other end of the pipe.

He disturbed the long metal coolant pipe whilst fitting an oil cooer kit so traced it back to all of this.

Hope it helps.

You guys might want to check your water pump. It leaks from around the same spot as you guys mentioned. It's sneaky because when the car is hot and running it usually burns off but when it's cold and running you'll notice it leaking a bit. Happened to my car, no big deal, just changed the water pump and no problems since.

I know it's not my water pump because I just changed it like 300 miles ago when I did my swap.

How in the hell do I get to that coolant tube to replace that O-ring with the engine in the car?

You guys I looked closer and it looks like it might be coming from something near the charcoal canister. Any ideas?

maybe every 50 miles of town driving i will fill it with just over a large glass full into the coolant tank. But i did 300 miles the other day and it barely used much. I am still seeing when leaks the most.
