Default b20 sleeves

i hear that b20 has really weak sleeves that could keep me from running my motor hard and keepin it from getting all messed up. if anybody knows where i can get sleeeves for my motor that would be a lil stronger and better, send links.

Yes, b20 sleeves are weak and will crack much more easily than the other B-series motor. The reason for this is the cylinders share the middle cylinder wall. You're best bet with a b20 is definately stay below 250whp and dont run it hard all the time. Best place to get stronger sleeves would be to send it in and get it sleeved by one of the many shop, i.e. GE, earl, etc.

B16drag, I hate to say this and come off like a jerk, (not my intent) but you dont know what your talking about. You are on the right track for getting it sleeved if you have the $ (who wouldnt sleeve if they had the $?) and you are correct about the sleeves being a poorer design then the rest of the B series sleeves. However, keeping it below 250whp and not running it hard is obviously something you just decided. I have a B20 that I rape everyday. It makes 280whp/250 trq. @ 15psi on the stock block. The B20s can last if tuned correctly. The sleeves may be a poorer design then any other B series motor, but if you have a B20 already and dont plan on getting another block, running less timing around mean brake trq. will help keep cyl. pressure down and help you keep you from cracking a sleeve. The B20B has a lower compression ratio, 8.8 which gives you a larger margin of error for tuning vs. the B20Z which has a 9.6 CR. A proper tune I believe plays a key part in making these motors last. Many many people have had great sucess with these motors cause they are tuned properly with the stock sleeves/bottom end. Others have blown them up in day, in every which case I have read was due to improper tuning or fuel supply.

It really depends. People think that hey have a good tune and still pop their motor. Get it tuned by somebody who knows what they are doing. With proper fuel supply and management, you should be ok.
