Default cage plates question on mounting.

ok i have read the complete rules. somewhere i heard that no gaps can be filled using a welder.i didnt see it in the rule book though. Well where the plates need to be mounted as you know the floor is waffle shaped. Im sure that i can bend the plates in but it would take days to make them fit totally flush. so my question is can i fill the small gaps with the welder on my plates??

As incorrect as people will tell you, I hit the underside of the car with a hammer in those spots to bring them up, then welded. I was really unhappy with the plates welded to the thin floor. It just didn't sit right in my head, so Tony1 suggested attaching them to the rockers and that has set my mind at ease.

If I had to do it again, I would have bolted to the floor and welded to the rockers. I don't think there is any problem (rule-wise) to doing that.

i know exactly what you are talking about i never weld to the floor .. its way too thin and i always attach it to the rocker sorta like this.. But as far as the floor being uneven when you go to zip the bolts in it will literally smash the waffle shaped floor and sandwich it between the plates... so you really dont have to weld...then again honda floor boards is pretty friendly..

No, the floor is real thin. I tacked a couple edges and then took a sledge hammer and hit it from about 10 inches away at 20% throttle. It's a matter of minutes.
