CAI tubing...Where to buy?
I'm trying to find 3" tubing of some sort to make a CAI for my 2001 Lude. I can't seem to find it anywhere. I wanna make it out of either aluminum, copper, or stainless tubing. I'm thinking maybe a muffler shop can help me out. Any of you guys made a cold air induction system, if so enlighten me please. I already have the cone filter I just need to fab the tube part. thx
AEM makes a 3" CAI pipe for Ludes, it even comes with a filter
:D
j/k
maybe you can get some straight pipe and U-bends and get a pipe fabbed up, I think that in the end it would be easier to just get the AEM... I dont know about the costs though.

Just a question...
If you are going to make a custom intake...why not route the tubing into an open port on the fron air dam and get a 'ram air' effect, essentially gaining intake pressure? I've been tossing that around for awhile and when I relocate the battery where it belongs I don't think it will be all that difficult to get to the front of the car. Any thoughts, comments, beratements?

i thought about that, but didn't wanna relocate my battery to the trunk, which makes it hard to do the 'ram air' with the battery still in the engine compartment. also, the effectiveness of ram would only be seen if the car would happen to travel at speeds of more than 130mph, you'd be better off with just the cold air.

Just buy the AEM. It's dyno proven for a reason. The Injen is also nice, as is the Iceman, but personally I prefer the AEM. http://www.landspeedracing.com has some great prices on AEM CAI's last time I checked.

but it doesn't see any gains untill it has the pressure of 130mph of air being shoved down its "dirty side".
the piping is gonna be too long for it to be affective, and you wont see any differnt gains than a CAI.
"is that your final answer"
"yes"
