Turbo Exhaust piping route, factory or different piping route
ok so i have a apexi n1 3'' catback exhaust that retains stock piping route, and i also have a 2.36 rsr gt2 catback exhaust that doesnt retain the piping route it is a straight threw design totally straight as most of you prolly know rsr... my question is what would be better for turbo? i know the 3'' will give more flow, but the rsr has a straight threw design, would you say givin one is 3'' and one is straight threw, that would make them pretty equal on flow? any opinions
i know the larger piping diameter will give better flo, but the straighter smaller exhaust should give better velocity flow giving the exhaust shoots straight out... anyone with me?
I'd say go with the 3" because its gonna allow more volume of air to escape and the velocity wont have to be as fast as the smaller exhaust cause its still gonna allow more air to flow, for example, blow into a 5 foot long piece of hose with a small inner diameter and blow into a slighty larger in diameter 10ft. long piece of hose, ur gonna be able to blow more air out of the larger diameter hose even though its longer, the air coming out wont have as much velocity to it but ur still moving a larger volume of air, its all about volume and speed really doesnt matter here.
3" all the way even if its longer and bends more, i take it that its mendral bent so it doesnt matter anyways. having a smaller and bending exhaust would be a problem though. seeya

thing is my car is a ef and the only biggest piping i can use is going to be 2.5 downpipe for clearence issues, so my question is i see people who use a 2.5dp and 3'' catback, but if you think about it, the downpipe is the part of the exhaust that is going to be flowing the larger volume of air, so if you have a 2.5dp and 3'' catback, the 3'' diameter piping isnt going to bwe flowing more volume of air, the most air you are going to be moving is threw the 2.5''dp
kinda like this, if the downpipe flows 1000 litres of air a minute, adding a 3'' catback wont make the downpipes air flow anymore. not like if you have a 3'' turback... does that seem pretty straight

people like to see 3'' after the dp bc it flows better then if you keep 2.5 all the way through. either way. the quickest you can get to bigger piping the better. even if its right after the dp.
ok let meask you this tho, i am trying to get a wide range of view on this exhaust/velocity/flow ****..... say you are running a maximum of 8-10psi do you think 2.5in turboback would be efficent?

You should be able to flare the downpipe to 3" no matter what chassis it's in. 3" all the way.. no reason to go smaller. You will see decreases in spool time even with a 2.5" downpipe compared to a smaller exhaust.
hears a question for you then would there be any benefit of running a 3 inch downpipe with a 2.5inch exhaust? AS opposed to 2.5 all the way back would there be any gains?
i just dont see it tho, i mean without better explain why a 2.5in turboback would be less efficent that a 2.5-3.0'' exhaust, you WOULD think that a 2.5 turboback would have better spool times bc it would carry a velocity flow of 2.5'' from the downpipe back, unlike the 2.5in dp and then 3'' catback, you would think it would have high velocity flow when the air comes down and out the 2.5in downpipe, then the velocity would slow down bc it reaches a larger diameter piping, would think it wouldnt be as direct of a velocity flow does that make any sense?

general rule of thumb w/turbo setups and exhaust..."Bigger is Better"
i'd say go with either the 3" n1 or custom side exit. plus the side exit just looks cool IMO.

uggghh i really love the sound and performance of my rsr gt2 catback ehaust, i would hate to sacrafice performance for sound, but i wont want sumthing just completely loud sometimes the apexi n1 can get loud like that, and the apexi n1 alot of ppl have, not alot of ppl have the rsr gt2 grr choices choices
