Dont mean to thread jack but, why are itr cams so good for forced induction? I thought valve overlap isnt the best for F/I? or is it just excessive overlap that can be bad?

I was under the impression that you can dial out the overlap with adj. cam gears. I dont run cam gears with my CTR's, so I wouldn't know for fact.

It goes like this for OEM Honda cams for boost:

EDIT

b16<GSR<ITR

GSR's usually are around 100 bucks and ITR considerably more (~250 I think)

Im running GSR's in my b16

Ive seen a write-up on evans-tunning that the gsr cams dialed in with cam gears can make anywhere from 20-60 extra hp.

i have a stock b16a1 engine and only the stock single exhaust springs ... is there any way to use gsr, itr or ctr cams without upgrading the valvetrain or is there a cheaper solution for upgrading the valvetrain without buy a one from crower i.e.?

i want to use other cams but i'am unsure about if the powergain is worht the ~1000 $ for cams and valvetrain

You could also use ITR springs and retainers, they go for around $100 for everything.

It depends on your manifold and turbo setup. A typical log won't see much gain from ITR cams, but an equal-length and a large turbo (ie low backpressure so less reversion), will. Remember typically you have higher EM pressures than IM pressures so you get backflow into the engine under FI. With a high-flow manifold, you see much lower pressures in the manifold, so you get less backflow and more power. It's all about matching your setup.

"Blowing boost through" the head is basically nonexistent unless you have lower backpressure in the exhaust manifold than in the intake manifold, which just isn't the case 99% of the time.
