Default K really worth it?

Had a thought going....for someone who already has a B18c1 in their 2 door civic like me is it really worth taking the time to save up 8grand to swap that motor over? I know the expenses vary for dif people because they can get better deals but...

k20a2 motor about $4000

Kpro ecu $1000

Exhaust Manifold / piping $1000

Shift linkage work, custome bracket for shifter ect..

New motor mounts for this swap $500

I could easily use that amount of money on my B18c1 and reliably tune a turbo to it that would make a rediculous amount of power. But then the K series overall has way more potential in the end right? Just thinking out loud trying to figure out if I should get with the times...or have fun with the B18c1 that I already somewhat started on.

I don't think so. Your better off saving $8K, and investing it. I see a lot of people selling there K-swapped cars right after the swap. From d-series to k is one thing, but from B18C1 to K, I wouldn't even have to think twice.

Are you looking to make insane power or not?

You can prolly sell your gsr stuff for a fat chunk of money anyway.

Thank god someone finally agrees with me. If you were planning an all motor build, I could see investing the time and money into a K because thats an stock 50 horsepower gain without doing anything. I dont think you could make as much power with a B18c1 going all motor as you could with a K (Im posative you couldnt) but if you are going turbo or even all motor and still daily driving it....I think it would be better to just invest that much money into the B18c1...

PLEASE GIVE ME FEEDBACK I feel like I need to be proven wrong here. Does my logic on this make any sence at all?

i would just keep the GSR because if you are going to shell out that amount of cash, just make the GSR a beast.. tis easier as well since the motor is already there in your car *im assuming* and it soulds like your not mechanically challenged so you prolly do your own work so you save money on turbo install and such .....

in a nut shell ... i would stick with the GSR

There's no right or wrong.
To some it is, to other's it's not. It usually depends on your income.

All in all, it's an opinion.

Really? How much is a GSR set up typically going for now? Mine is a 96 gsr completely stock in great shape. Like $2000?

Thats true too...Overall the question as stated before seems to be...are you looking to make that extra insane power or not? To me...that amount of power would lead to a track-only car vs having a quick GSR that you could still drive on the streets with.

You can probably get more than $2000 for your setup, if it's strong with decently low mileage.

IMO.. stick with the gsr.. its a great motor to begin with.. and you can do so much more with the 8 grand you would have put into the K. but in the end, its still your decision.

If you want one that bad..sell your car...add the 8 grand, and buy an RSX-S.

Well its a white civic ex 2 door coupe that Im replacing the front end on with all OEm parts and getting it painted championship white. Its a 95 and the GSR has about 118,000 miles VERY VERY Well maintaned. About to install a bran new clutch. I would never think in a million years it would touch even 10k though...

The motor is all stock too, just an intake has been installed and that's the most that's EVER been installed on it so ALL of it's power is there. What do you think a reasonable asking price for this would be? 6 - 7k?

ask 7-5 but be willing to go down to 6-5 i think that would be reasonable as long as its low milage, and that jdm champ white adds to its mod list and desireblity also increses the price in reality its a cheap *** paint job heh

just dont go down too fast if u sit there and go 100 by 100 there gunna take it for 6500 which is alot for such an old car just dont be like ok 7400 make them ask the price and make them negotiate say NO alot be like after a while say maybe i can go down to 74 but i really really ned the money just bullshit like that ull get enoguh

it all depends on what your goal is in terms of whp. if you drop 8g's into your b18c1 im pretty sure you'll be satisfied with the end results.

no question stay with the gsr.

boost and tune it and you can have 350hp for about 2g's. You wana get crazy, for about 5g's you can have 650+hp.

i remember the commercial for the rsx-s, wasnt it just boasting 200hp. whats a gsr? 180? not worth all the money unless im missing something else. 6 speed is the only plus side to getting a motor that everything else cost more for.

Yeah, the USDM setup isnt worth it at all...what anyone who knows what they're talking about do....is they get the JDM k20 which runs 220hp. But in order to make that motor run 220 hp here you have to be looking to spend the 8g's I was just talking about....220 is fast stock but still not worth it in my opinion...not with what I can/will do with my gsr....118,000 all stock driven miles and has been romped on every now and then. That considered a low mile / good shape motor? I can definitely feel it still has all its power for sure.

I would save your money for an rsx-s or just build what you got.
