Default New Owner, have a few Q's

Let me start off by saying hello and introducing myself.

My name is Brian and my uncle recently gifted me his '85 CRX Si and my friend Matt and I are just starting to get into the repair and restoration work.

The car has a leak somewhere. We took out the carpeting and interior earlier today to do some cleaning. Matt thinks that the water leak is coming from either the rear hatch, the sunroof, or perhaps both. I have massive amounts of water litterally pooiling behind the passenger's seat, and when we removed the carpet in the hatch area, we found even more signs of water damage, plus more standing water in the spare tire well. Is it common for a car this old to have these problems? Also, what is the best way to correct this besides new weather stripping.

After we get the seals all fixed and get the car in good running order, I want to start and look into making minor modifications. I had originally wanted to do a cool body kit and everything like that, but my friend Matt has an '86 MR2 with a full body kit and said that its more trouble than it's worth because of the care that you have to take on ramps/driveways. So, I decided that I want to keeo the stock body and lower the car a little bit, but not slam it on the ground. Does anyone have a good set of springs that they can reccommend or perhaps have had a good experience with?

Sorry to ramble on like that, but I have alot of questions. Any information you guys can give me in just about any form is appreciated. Even if I can't really understand it, I'm sure Matt can.

Thanks much

the standing water in the back is from the hatch. they leak.. mine had one original owner, 45k original miles, and the pass side freaking leaks.. and the car looks brand new.. try replacing the weather stripping i would say on the whole car.. but start with the hatch.. and the sunroof.

as for springs, the coilovers from skunk2 are nice.. as well as teins.. from what i have heard omni power sucks for service and support.. bummer cause they are like 659 for a full adjustable set.. oh well. guess its 800 bucks for a full adj set or so.. unless you get the coilover sleave from skunk2 and some other shocks like koni's or tokiko etc...
check the faq before you askl a question that was asked like 50 million times.. will save you the hassle of others bashing you..

have fun.. and check mine out
mike
p.s. feel free to ask me any car audio questions.. i installed everything in my on my own,,
